Central registry

Central registry-icon

The Central Registry (CR) accepts the requests for operations concerning domains, contacts or other objects in the register, sends the queries to the database and returns results via appropriate interfaces. It processes regular maintenance tasks on registry data sucha as checking of register information (domain expiration, technical checks of domain data, etc.) and invoke relevant actions based on results of these checks (information about domain contacts, withdrawal of domain from a zone, etc.). Central registry also periodically generates zone files for managed zones.

Central registry features include:

  • Protection period for expired domains
  • Registrant notifications after various events
  • Invoicing and banking via plug-in system
  • Technical checks of delegated domains
  • Removal of long-term inactive records

Registrar Interface

Registrant interface-icon The Registrar Interface (RIF) is an interface between a registrar and the central registry. Registrars issue commands to the central registry via RIF. This communication utilizes EPP protocol over SSL secured connection. FRED provides full featured command line client as well as a GUI client (currently at experimental stage only) for Unix and Windows systems to connect to RIF via EPP/SSL.

Registrar interface features include:

  • Automatic request processing
  • Individual accounts with specific access rights for each registrar
  • Client output to PHP and HTML
  • Python API for easy integration into other systems

Public Interface

Public interface-icon

Public interface provides the public data from the registry via WHOIS services – web and command line. Public interface also provides statistics and reports from the registry and direct sending of transfer authentication code to the users without a necesity to involve any registrars.

Public interface features include:

  • Customizable amount of displayed information in WHOIS per zone
  • Phone numbers as well as ENUM domains support
  • CAPTCHA protection against robotic data collection
  • Multi-language support

Administrator interface

Admin interface-icon The administrator interface provides tools for displaying and manipulating any data within the registry and the tools for system customization and maintenance. Administrators interface is implemented as a web application.

Administrator interface features include:

  • Access permission and ACL
  • Advanced central registry search
  • Data export to CSV and OpenDocument formats
  • Manual technical checks triggering
  • Manual zone file generation triggering
  • Registrars handling
  • Virtual registrar for direct domain registrations
